People came to Jeus for healing miracles, Today’s Gospel Lesson has Christ healing a leper, in those days one who, by no fault of their own, sonmeone who was seen as ” unclean” Jesus defied the cultural norm by choosing to heal the leper.
Christians are called to be the hands & feet of our Lord. The time is now, my friends.
All of us are guilty of sitting in our comfortable homes here in the United States watching the footage of the Haitian earthquake on the news. But these are real families suffering, those who have lost loved ones & most who have lost all they own in Haiti’s capitol city.
That is what Our Lord wants us to do, to reach out & touch those places that most need healing. It can be within our wider world, such as providing relief monies to Haiti, or even in our own community. There is always room for helping to heal a hurting world. Go to www.ER-D & see how our own Episcopal Relief & Development is already providing healing ministries to those around the global community who need Christ’s healing touch the most. The people of Haiti need us. Sure, in these tough economic times many folks cannot afford to give much. But remember, every dime helps. All those small amounts of dollars can add up to help people who have literally nothing get through this great time of need.
Let us just not RECEIVE Eucharist, let us all BE Eucharist. Let us recognize the Gift that we have as citizens of the United States of America & also take time to pray for & maybe give as our financial health dictates , to organizations such as Episcopal Relief & Development & The American Red Cross.
